Milinda Brown is a commercial and employment litigator with vast experience in state, federal and appellate courts.

Growing up in her family’s company inspired Milinda to help individuals and organizations navigate challenging business situations. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants in various business issues, including shareholder and contract disputes, and disputes arising from the ownership of closely held companies.

Among her recent accolades, Milinda prevailed in a breach of contract and wrongful eviction case she argued in front of a magistrate judge on behalf of her property management client.

She succeeded in twice defending appeals of a preliminary injunction awarded on behalf of her defamation attorney clients before the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals, which both upheld the injunction.

In a partnership dispute case, Milinda and Drew Beal successfully defended a doctor in a week-long jury trial in which the jury awarded their client the maximum amount of damages allowed under the contract and denied all claims against the doctor.

Milinda is equally passionate about seeking justice for victims of workplace discrimination, harassment, and civil rights violations. During her time as an Assistant Attorney General Honors Fellow, she defended state employees in civil rights actions, including claims under The Civil Rights Act (42 U.S.C. §1983), the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Rehabilitation Act. She also represented Georgia entities, departments, and authorities in state court actions brought under the Georgia Torts Claim Act.

Milinda is a 2019 graduate of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Leadership Academy of the State Bar of Georgia and chairs YLD’s professionalism and ethics committee. She is admitted to practice law before all Georgia state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Milinda received her J.D. magna cum laude from Mercer Law School, where she was a member of the Mercer Law Review and the school’s national championship-winning corporate law moot court team. She was inducted into the Order of Barristers and received the Ruth T. West Award for Advocacy and Leadership.

Outside of work, Milinda enjoys exploring the city’s arts scene and attending pet-friendly events with her husband and two dogs. She also enjoys cheering for Georgia football and road biking.
